Description

SOFA (Simulation Open Framework Architecture) is an open source, real-time, physical simulation framework designed for the research community with an emphasis on medical simulation. It enables users to develop, research, and prototype physics-based simulations by combining new algorithms with existing algorithms, parallelize complex computations using semantics based on data dependencies, and simulate the dynamics of interacting objects using abstract equation solvers. Features include scene graph, state vectors, continuous integration, surface representation, multi-model representation, topography, parallelization methods, and python scripting. Applications of SOFA include soft robot control, endovascular simulation, cardiac electrophysiology, and protein structure prediction.
