Apache Pig is an open-source high-level data flow platform designed for application developers. It enables users to analyze data sets that consist of a high-level language for expressing data analysis programs, control how the scripts are structured and executed, generate parallel executable tasks which can be distributed across multiple machines in a Hadoop cluster, as well as specify an implementation or aspects of an implementation to be used in executing a script in several ways. Features include built-in functions, control structures, nested relational models, shell and utility commands, and visual editors.
