Cisco MDS 9700 is a series of multilayer directors designed for large virtualized data centers. These products enable users to scale and consolidate SAN deployments with lesser hardware components, analyze real-time Fibre Channel exchanges, compute I/O-level metrics at every switch, examine every exchange passing through the 32-Gbps application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), consolidate workloads from hundreds of high-performance virtual machines, allocate up to 8191 buffer-to-buffer credits to a single Fibre Channel port, and optimize the bandwidth utilization across all links. Products include Cisco MDS 9718, Cisco MDS 9710, and Cisco MDS 9706. Features include 48-Port 32-Gbps Fibre Channel Switching Module, 1.5-Tbps Fibre Channel performance per slot, traffic management, hardware-enforced zoning, ACLs, and role-based access control (RBAC).
