Kong Gateway is an open-source application programming interface (API) gateway designed for application developers. It enables users to manage, throttle, and restrict inbound and outbound API traffic, visualize, inspect, and monitor APIs and microservices traffic, transform the requests and responses, stream request and response data to logging solutions, automate and orchestrate continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, perform routing and load balancing of requests, and handle a set of policies including access policies and operational policies for runtime requests. Features include in-memory caching, extensible plug-ins, customization capability, clustering capability, and response workflow automation.
