Apache Flume is a cross-platform distributed software designed for data administrators. It enables users to collect, aggregate, and move a bulk volume of streaming data such as log data and events; retrieve and store data from various web servers and remote locations in a central database and support composite configurations; access multiple failovers and recovery mechanisms; and inject sensitive information like passwords into the system through filters. Features include big data management, contextual routing, channel-based transactions, scalability, multi-hip flows, tunable reliability mechanisms, and fault-tolerant capability.
