Apache Ignite is an open-source and fault-tolerant distributed in-memory computing platform designed for data scientists, storage administrators, and application developers. It enables users to span interconnected physical or virtual machines, accelerate existing disk-based databases, propagate updates to disk through write-ahead log (WAL), manage data shuffling between nodes and optimize network usage, access the cluster with key-value requests, and send the rollback message to the cluster nodes on transaction failure.
