Apache Lens is a unified analytics interface designed for data analysts. It enables users to eliminate data analytics silos by providing a single view across multiple tiered data stores and an execution environment for the analytical query. Features include integration of Hadoop with traditional data warehouses, a single shared schema server (based on Hive Metastore), an OLAP CUBE QL (high level SQL-like language for querying and describing datasets organized in data cubes), a JDBC driver and Java client libraries (to issue queries), a CLI for ad hoc queries, a LENS (REST) application server, driver-based architecture (enabling plugins to reporting systems such as Hive, Columnar, Redshift), and cost-based engine selection.
