Azure Application Gateway is a load-balancing solution designed for website administrators. It enables users to build scalable website frontends in Azure, protect applications from common web vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting, monitor web applications using custom rules and rule groups based on requirements, route traffic to back-end server pools with URL path-based routing, and reduce encryption and decryption overhead on servers by centralizing SSL certificate management. Features include a built-in web application firewall, Azure APIs, cookie-based session affinity, data encryption, Layer 7 load-balancing capability, and compliance management.
