Juniper Networks Contrail is an open-source software-defined networking (SDN) solution designed for IT network architects and administrators. It enables users to extend the network from the physical routers and switches, implement NFV and service chaining, monitor the contents of the low-level technology data model, collate and share analytics information for troubleshooting issues, and automate and orchestrate the creation of virtual networks, address challenges for self-service. Features include security management, data analytics, REST API support, deep packer inspection (DPI), latency management, Ganglia and Cobbler integration, and metadata management.
