Description
OSSEC is an open-source, host-based intrusion detection system (HIDS) designed for Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, OS X, Solaris, and Windows operating systems. It enables users to perform log analysis, integrity checking, Windows registry monitoring, rootkit detection, time-based alerting, and active response, correlate and analyze logs from multiple devices and formats, add kernel hardening, memory protection, an agent-based WAF, and application control, as well as monitor millions of files distributed across tens of thousands of systems in real-time. Features include integration with Ansible, Puppet, and Chef, role-based access control, reporting capability, configuration management, and output data routing.
