Synopsys LightTools is an illumination design software designed for circuit design engineers. It enables users to automatically update the performance of virtually any type of illumination system, optimize ray-based (noise-free) merit functions and Monte Carlo-based (noisy) merit functions to handle a variety of illumination systems at various stages of design, manage the optimization progress using built-in criteria such as exit controls and noise calculations, add a variable or constraint as part of the merit function, and tune the system to match a target illumination distribution. Features include user-defined optimization merit function, application-specific utilities, data exchange support, angular and spatial luminance analysis, and integration with LightTools 3D solid modeling.
