FirstOntario Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative based in Hamilton, Ontario, with a history that dates back to 1939. Originally founded as Stelco Employees Credit Union for steelworkers, it has grown through strategic mergers, including with Family Savings & Credit Union and Avestel Credit Union, to become Ontario's fifth-largest credit union. It serves over 126,000 members across 15 communities in Hamilton, Niagara, Halton, and southwestern Ontario.
