About Gila River Indian Community
The Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) is a Native American reservation located in south-central Arizona, near Phoenix. Established in 1859 and recognized by Congress in 1939, it encompasses parts of Pinal and Maricopa counties and is home to the Akimel O'odham (Pima) and Pee-Posh (Maricopa) tribes. The community has deep historical roots, tracing back to the Hohokam people who farmed along the Gila River Basin.
