AWS Shield is a managed distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection service designed for IT security teams. It enables users to detect and mitigate sophisticated network-level automatically in distributed denial of service events; customize application protection against DDoS risks through integration with shield response team protocol; protect applications and APIs from SYN floods; and implement inline mitigations such as deterministic packet filtering and priority-based traffic shaping to eliminate network-layer attacks. Features include Amazon CloudFront support, threshold management, load balancing, traffic pattern analysis, attack notification generation, and scalability.
